Mandriva company teetering on the brink of shutdown

Rafael Jadot (Raphaël Jadot), one of the oldest develope[t:tag slug=razrabotka]developers of Mandriva, reported on the immediate financial difficulties of Mandriva. In late December, the head of Mandriva reported to shareholders on the need to raise additional funds for continued development. Mandriva majority shareholder in Russia, which owns a controlling stake, announced its readiness to provide the cash infusion, and even allocate funds alone, if necessary. But the company Linlux, a minority shareholder, owning 42% of the shares and has certain rights, rejected the proposal for raising fresh capital, even if the Russian side will undertake all the necessary funding, while expressing disagreement with an increase in the share of Russian investors.

If the conflict is settled and funds are not forthcoming, a French company Mandriva has to be stopped its activities on January 16. However, in such situations Mandriva falls not the first time and every time successfully bail out at the last moment. For example, in late 2010 Linlux also refused to provide investment in the last minute, Russian investors have provided the necessary funds. Even if the company Mandriva’s demise, this does not significantly affect the development of the same name distribution, development of which recently conducted primarily by independent companies in Russia and Brazil.

There is also information about what is going Mandriva judicially challenge the actions of LinPlus, proving that there are compelling reasons LinPlus blocking procedure, infusion of additional funds, without which the company will be forced to stop Mandriva operating or being in a state of bankruptcy.
