Forecasts of growth in Linux

At which began today in New York Linuxworld Open Solutions Summit agency IDC analysts presented their vision of how Linux will evolve in the future. In particular, they estimated that by 2010 the market share of Linux will reach $ 40 billion. In 2006 this figure amounted to 18 billion. This representative IDC E Gillen [Al Gillen] explained that in fact this figure does not show the real level of proliferation of Linux-systems, because does not include, for example, the number set free server operating systems, and their view of Al as much, and commercial. Also according to IDC server operating system, Linux is not so much taken away the market from Microsoft, as replacing UNIX. As for the desktop versions of Linux, analysts here note that the annual growth of desktop Linux-systems is 30-40% and by 2010 the rate did not decline, but due to the fact that the initial share of miserable, in the general scale of the market share of desktop Linux systems is still quite small.
