A look at the concept of configurations and models Geronimo deployment.
Geronimo, an open software based on Apache Java 2 Platform, J2EE-server integrates a dozen technologies and concepts. Most of them - independent projects, each with its own configuration and deployment model. Target Geronimo - to collect these disparate systems under one “umbrella” to bring different approaches to configuration and deployment of a single, uniform model. Developer Geronimo, Srinath Perera, explains how Geronimo achieves this goal and links that users see Geronimo with the concepts underlying the architecture of the server.

In August 2003, the Apache Software Foundation has collected dozens of developers of open source projects to create a project Apache J2EE Server Project, and born on Apache Geronimo. Geronimo can be considered as an operating system for the individual enterprise. It integrates many open source projects into a single structure, which is coordinated by the creation of a package company.

Geronimo - one of the most complex projects, which took the community of open source projects, comparable in significance with Linux. (Some observers believe that Geronimo - check the stability of the practice of open source projects and their ability to handle this level of complexity.) One of the main objectives of Geronimo - certified J2EE 1.4 - an achievement which required a very long time. Nevertheless, Geronimo has already issued several interim publications and is steadily moving toward a magical release 1.0.
