Unix operating system 40 years

40 years ago, in August 1969, Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie of laboratory Bell, unhappy with the size and complexity of operating system Multics, after one month of hard work, presented a first working prototype of the operating system Unix, is written in assembler for the PDP-7 minicomputer. Around the same time, was developed programming language Bi, who a few years later evolved into the C language. In early 1970, joined the project Brian Kernighan, Douglas McIlroy, and Joe Ossa, with the participation of Unix which has been adapted for the PDP-11. In 1972, the developers abandoned the assembly language and partially rewrote the system to high-level language Bi, but for the next 2 years the system has gradually been completely rewritten in C, then the popularity of Unix in the university environment has increased considerably.
