This greatly simplifies account management and is a big step in the evolution of Linux as an OS for the desktop.

Input system IBus. ibus be rewritten in C and is the default method for entering text in Asian languages. It allows you to dynamically add and remove input methods using a desktop session. It supports Chinese (pinyin, libchewing, tables), Indian (m17n), japanese (anthy), Korean (libhangul) and others. In it, compared with scim, yet lacking some features, so we are waiting for your help in its testing and suggestions for improvement.

Presto. Usually, when you install packages in Fedora, you’re downloading full file to update. In most cases (especially for large packages), most of the data in the revised package - this is the same data as in the original package, but you are nonetheless still download the entire package. Presto allows you to download a difference (so-called delta) between already established and the new package. This can reduce the size of downloaded updates to 60-80%. This possibility exists, but not enabled by default, and that you could use it, you need to install yum-presto, for example, with `yum install yum-presto`.

Other changes:

File System ext4. Ext3 long remained a mature standard for Linux. ext4 to ext3 offers a major update of significantly improved design, better performance and data protection, support for larger carriers and ultra-fast removal of files and a quick check of volumes of data. ext4 file system has become the default.

Permission virtual text consoles increased from 800×600 to 1024×768.

MinGW (cross compiler for Windows). Fedora 11 grants out of the box to cross compile a program that you intend to run in Windows. In the past, developers have to port and recompile all the libraries and utilities that they were needed, which required serious efforts and increases in times the amount of work. MinGW preclude a repetition of the developers, providing a wide range of libraries and utilities development, has already been ported to the cross-compiler environment. Developers no longer have to recompile the applications and their dependencies, and they can concentrate on programming.

The mechanism of verification data and authentication changed from MD5/SHA1 on SHA256. This feature is only supported in Fedora 10, so the direct update of earlier distributions, Fedora to Fedora 11 is impossible.

Updated all the software in the distribution package includes the latest versions of X Server 1.6, KDE 4.2.3 and Gnome, as well as kernel 2.6.29, Python 2.6, GCC 4.4.0, etc.
