Chairman of the faction Meretz party in the Knesset (Israeli parliament) Ilan Gilaon sent a letter to the Speaker of Parliament Reuven Rivlin. In particular, Gialon indicates that the Knesset is prohibited to install on your work computer any programs, except those that have installed the service and technical support of Parliament. However, the old operating system and the programs themselves pose challenges to users. In this regard, Gialon proposed to stop using Microsoft products and switch to Linux operating system and programs with free licenses. The letter outlines the programs such as the Firefox Web browser and the player VLC. The MP said that the transition to free software can save annually Knesset tens of thousands of shekels.
