Tatarstan: All schools decided to move to GNU / Linux this year

Ministry of Education and Science of Tatarstan has decided to transfer all the schools of the republic of Linux and free software. The decision was made primarily in connection with the expiration in 2010, licenses for the products with Microsoft, installed in the schools of the republic. Transfer to the ACT is scheduled for completion before the end of 2009. At first, learning the basics of Linux are planned through the opening in each school special elective circles, to be teachers, prepared a special program.

In the past year under the pilot project school-based distribution ALtLinux has been successfully implemented in 612 schools nationwide. In the course of 2009 is planned to move to Linux in 1800 is not participating in the pilot project of educational institutions.
