Rivals unite: HP will put Solaris on servers

Hewlett-Packard Company and Sun Microsystems announced a partnership that aims to install and support the Solaris operating system running on HP line of ProLiant. This step aims at increasing demand for Solaris servers as HP ProLiant, and at the blade-servers, HP.

The analyst from Forrester Research warns that such actions HP should provoke questions about the relevance of UNIX-systems company, HP-UX: “HP no longer support its own version of UNIX, HP-UX, or HP-UX has fundamental flaws that prevent the exit of the company to market without the help of a competitor [in the form of Sun]? ”
