Simply Linux - the first "outsider" distribution based on ALT Linux

Company ALT Linux has announced the appearance of "the first significant release of a user's system, which is made on the basis of its technologies, but not by itself" - Simply GNU / Linux 5.0.0.

Leader and the author of the draft Simply Linux is Denis Koryavov - team member ALT Linux Team. Eventually he was joined by supporters, and now distribution has its own logo, design, concept, and the site is under construction. It is stated that Simply Linux is aimed at novice users.

Among the software included in the Simply Linux, lightweight window manager, Xfce 4.6.1, browser Firefox 3.5.3 with Яндекс.Баром, mail client Thunderbird 3.0pre4, IM-client is Pidgin 2.6.3, office suite OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 . Simply Linux installation image is a CD-ROM (700 MB). The system should function normally on machines with the Intel Pentium III 733 MHz (recommended 1 GHz) and 256 MB RAM (384 MB recommended against).
