The use of free software in commercial versions of UNIX

The article explains how the programmer can be more productive and efficient use of free software, which is currently available for the platform UNIX ®. Tools GCC (GNU gcc compiler and gcc-c + +), Emacs, and even basic utilities such as BASH, and file utilities (ls, find, etc.) began its life as an alternative free software for UNIX. The article describes the development of some of these tools, convenience and ease of use, licensing, possible problems. Shown how best to install and integrate this free software in the commercial version of the operating system UNIX.
