Austria Vienna have to use Vista with GNU / Linux

This week the city council of Vienna, the capital of Austria, has decided to reconfigure the 720 computers with GNU / Linux, used in urban centers, day care for children, for they can run an alternative operating system - Microsoft Windows Vista.
According to Austrian and German news sites, the decision was motivated by the need to run specialized applications for mandatory tests of language skills, which only works with Web-browser from Microsoft. At the initiative will be spent about 105 thousand euros. This caused concern to Mary Ringler (Marie Ringler) from the Green Party in Vienna: “Even the part of those funds would be sufficient to accelerate the adaptation of the software tester for Firefox development company.”
According to Ringler, this case only proves that Vienna departs from its initiatives on the use of Open Source. However, another city council member representing the Social-Democratic Party (Social Democratic Party), believes that these accusations are unfounded: “Vienna has used the software with open source software for the last 20 years and will continue to do so.”
