Issued distribution Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1

The U.S. company Red Hat introduced the release of a new version of its Linux-key corporate decision - Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1.

Update 5.1, which is based - Linux-kernel 2.6.18-53.el5, available for the following family of distributions, RHEL: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Advanced Platform and Server for x86, AMD64/Intel (r) 64, Itanium, S/390 , System p and System z; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop for x86 and AMD64/Intel.

In RHEL 5.1 are improvements in virtualization (in particular, now there is full support for virtualization for Itanium2 and appeared hypervisor Xen 3.1.0), the system power management ACPI (with support for S3 suspend standby and hibernation S4 hibernate), update subsystem SATA, Full support for file systems up to 16 TB for ext3, CIFS 1.48aRH, updates to IPMI and HPI. In addition, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 came support smart cards for SSH, updating many drivers and PAM / Kerberos and NSS-LDAP for better integration with Active Directory, as well as the integration was carried out changes associated with the certification system LSPP (Labeled Security Protection Profile).

The first beta release of RHEL 5.1 was submitted on July 30.
