GNOME goes online

Following the growing trend move applications from the stationary computer to the Internet (technology Web-2.0), Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, Firefox, Salesforce.com and many other projects have decided to join efforts in creating an operating system of the future. This concept implies that the user’s computer becomes a kind of “thin client”, working with the applications installed on remote servers. The main stationary application in this case becomes a browser that provides access to online services, but it remains the need to maintain a personal computer at least the minimum configuration of the usual operating system including device drivers and a graphical environment to run the same browser and operating system management components. According to the authors of a new joint project, in this role and will act as GNOME.
