Entering characters with accents in Linux

In Linux (more precisely in the X Window System) is a terrific way to enter characters missing in the installed keyboard layout ( “,”, ©, -,?, ¥, ¤, ß, à, á, æ, etc.). This tool is called the key is Compose. With it you can enter virtually all versions of characters with accents, as well as various special characters.
