Red Hat officially released Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Red Hat is now officially announced the release of the final version of the new release of its flagship operating system, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL5), which is considered a kind of standard Linux-systems in the world.

In Red Hat said that the development of the new OS took longer than anticipated because of the integration of virtualization.

Recall that originally planned to release the OS at the end of 2006. The first beta version has appeared on Sept. 8, 2006, the second - November 2, 2006, finally release candidate appeared in late January 2007.

RHEL5 is based on kernel 2.6.18, as well as virtualization XEN, besides operating system has an integrated version of the product Red Hat Cluster Suite (set to create server clusters).
